Spirit Spine Kicks off Vessel-X® Marketing Campaign in China

Taipei, Taiwan ….. Mar 9, 2015

As the first shipment of Vessel-X® Bone Filling Container System hit the receiving dock of the warehouse in Wai Gao Qiao Free Trade Zone in Shanghai, Spirit Spine Holdings Corp., Inc. officially kicks off its sales campaign of this product line in China. Following the receipt of the Class III clearance from the China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA), Spirit Spine is putting its efforts to introduce this innovative minimally invasive procedure for Vertebral Compression Fractures (VCFs) to China market.

“The surgeons and patients have been longing for a better solution for VCFs treatment.” said Dr. Chong-Chou Lee, Spirit Spine's CEO. “And now, we are answering their requests by bringing them Vessel-X® as we’ve promised years ago.”

“We have been working with the distributors in China to pre-advertise Vessel-X®.” stated Jack Ting, the G.M. of the company. “Though there will be a series of jobs to be done before Vessel-X® presents itself in the O.R.s, such as pricing, insurance coding, and tenders, the sales network has been ready for it.”

Vessel-X®, manufactured from controlled pore size fabric according to the particle size of different types of the bone cements, allows the injected bone cement stays within the Vessel-X® container without leaking out while the filling. When the Vessel-X® container reaches it's maximum volume, the small amount of the bone cement begins to wuss out around the container consistently under surgeon's control to create the perfect inter-digitation in almost every Vesselplasty cases.

About KyVex® VCF Vesselplasty System

The KyVex® VCF Vesselplasty System is designed for the anatomical reduction of Vertebral Compression Fractures with or without underlying pathologies affecting the bone quality such as osteoporosis and malignant lesions (myeloma or osteolitic metastasis).

The implant is made of medical Titanium. It is expendable due to its plasticity and geometric shape. The expended implant can provide adequate maintenance of space to prevent bone from collapsing and deforming after surgery. The expended implant can also restore the height of vertebral body and prevent bone cement extravasation.

Spirit Spine Appoints Dr. Sheng-Mou Hou to the medical advisory board

Dr. Sheng-Mou Hou graduated with his MD. from the National Taiwan University (NTU) School of Medicine, following which he earned his PhD. from NTU's Graduate School of Clinical Medicine, specializing in orthopedics. He has carried out clinical work in the National Taiwan University Hospital (NTUH) Department of Orthopedic Surgery and has served as Vice Superintendent of NTUH and Superintendent of Taipei City Hospital. Dr. Hou was an Orthopedic Fellow at Duke University Medical Center in North Carolina and earned his MPH at the Johns Hopkins University's School of Hygiene and Public Health. He was appointed as the 10th Minister of Health in Taiwan. Currently, Dr. Hou is the Superintendent of Shin Kong Wu Ho-Su Memorial Hospital and Honorary Professor at NTU.

Dr. Hou has published over 250 scientific papers in international journals, and won many awards for his wide-ranging research in the fields of orthopedic medicine, joint reconstruction surgery, and hip replacement from the Taiwan Orthopedic Association and the International College of Surgeons. He is also a member of the American Orthopedic Association and a lifetime member of the Australia Hand Surgery Society. Dr. Hou also heads the Taiwan Orthopedics Research Society, the Taiwan Orthopedic Association, and the Joint Reconstruction Society of the ROC. Dr. Hou is also a trustee of AO association.
